The Bible says not to oppress the stranger in thy midst. The Bible also says that if a man doesn't work, he shouldn't eat. But the Bible is not in contravention to itself. Giving free stuff to invaders is oppression by making him lazy; offering gifts to gain his favor blinds him and perverts righteousness. Exodus 23:1-11
