I do (or did) a lot of image searching looking for inspiring & interesting things to post, and I love finding historical photos and the stories behind them. This leads to more reverse image searches to uncover where the image originated, which usually yields fascinating results. Such is the case with the photo below of the insides of a covered wagon I discovered a few days ago. I thought it would be a nice historical photo for our Cowboys group. At first I questioned whether it was authentic or not, and that sent me scavenging the internet. I finally hit paydirt at a site called the "DonovanTribe" which turned out to be this family's history of coming to America. The link below is the story told by Blanche Johnson Donovan of her 1901 travels as a child in that covered wagon pictured below! – "1901 - Blanche’s Travel Memoir" – she told the story to her then 12-year-old grandson, Michael Houselog, who typed it out as she relayed it to him and it along with the covered wagon photo are historical items of the Donovan family. I've included the 3 page typed memoir below in the comments. Enjoy the trip back in time! (Now imagine if I posted this story tomorrow, but no images.) #cowboys #cowgirls #oldwest #history https://www.donovantribe.com/posts/1901-blanches-travel-memoir/
