Phone number fraud and SIM redirect hacks are becoming a problem but you may have the upper hand and control. On your carrier's webpage or app you can have an account to access these settings. For me it is the Mint Mobile app or their web page. Don't have an online account with your carrier? Create one. For me it's called Number Lock. Once turned on no one can change your phone number with a phone call to the carrier thus no one can hijack your SIM. If you need to change the setting your carrier either calls you on your number or sends a one time code and requests further verification of your identity. Simple. One less thing. Now, why it's not on by default is anyone's guess.....
