A new report highlights the human cost of prolonged medical wait times across Canada, revealing that tens of thousands of patients died before receiving scheduled care. Data compiled by SecondStreet.org estimates that at least 23,746 people passed away between April 2024 and March 2025 while waiting for surgeries or diagnostic procedures. These deaths occurred before treatment could even begin.
