Joshua Riley, X $54 billion of food and fibre exports rest on a GE-free reputation. The government never costed what we lose if it's gone. Its own Regulatory Impact Statement concedes "unquantified costs" to organic and non-GMO producers. The only serious estimate of the downside - up to $10โ€“20b a year - had to be commissioned by the sector in the firing line, because nobody in government produced one. By MBIE's own own count, 14,321 of 14,745 submissions were opposed. It proceeded anyway. And when asked what evidence it weighed on the outcomes of New Zealand's own 20 approved GM field trials, MBIE refused the request - because "MBIE did not consider such documents." A release cannot be recalled. There is no compensation for contamination. The Regulator gets good-faith immunity. We're betting a hundred years of reputation on a bill shaped by the industry that profits from it. https://x.com/VoteSovereign/status/2093940937168982317
