A friend of mine went elk hunting this fall out in Wyoming. As he was preparing to go on his trip his wife asked if she could go along. He really didn’t want to take her. He would rather just hang with the guys. But his wife was pretty insistent. He came up with an idea that he thought would be a legitimate way to keep her from going. He told her that she would need to practice with her 270 till she could put three consecutive shots in a two inch circle at 300 yards. Well a few weeks later she did just that. Well he was without an excuse now. The day arrived that they were entering the mountain valley that they would be hunting in. They found a good game trail that led to a watering hole. He got his wife set down in a good location with good shooting lanes and told her that if she shot an elk to just sit tight. He would be just over the ridge, and when he heard her shot he would come back to her. They would track the animal together. He barely got settled into his blind and he heard a loud shot coming from his wife's direction. He got up and made his way over the ridge. To his astonishment his wife was screaming at a cowboy telling him to get away from her elk. The cowboy stood there dumbfounded with his hands in the air, and finally said "lady you can have your elk, I just want my saddle". 😁 😂
