In the Gospel of John we read: "In the beginning was the Word [YHWH], and the Word [YHWH] was with God [El], and the Word [YHWH] was [a part of] God [El]. The same was in the beginning with God [El]. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." The explanation of this verse is that in the beginning God (El) divided himself by separating into two opposing forces - El and Yahweh, El being the positive, creative force (light) and Yahweh (the Word or the unspeakable name YHWH) being the negative, destructive force (darkness), i.e. Satan, the Angel of Death, who is said in the Bible to be a son of God [El]. Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. The Book of Job identifies Satan as one of the sons of El/God: "Now there was a day when the sons of God [angels] came to present themselves before the LORD, and among them was one called Satan. And the LORD said unto Satan, "Where have you been?" And Satan replied to the LORD, saying, "From going here and there upon the earth, and from walking back and forth upon it"
