The tide is going out, but not so much yet that an occasional wave doesn't break through and fill the rocky channel with a river of surf. We wait, and in a few short seconds the water recedes, leaving a sandy pathway we can walk through -- while always, always keeping an eye on the incoming waves -- to explore the tide pools and life along the rocks.
