Ford Motor Co. reportedly fired an electrician earning more than $200,000 a year at the automaker’s most profitable assembly plant over a $1.95 chocolate chip cookie. Kurt Kromm told Shifting Gears that Ford had him escorted out of the Kentucky Truck Plant after accusing the 60-year-old diabetic of stealing a cookie during his overnight shift May 9. Ford had break-room surveillance video showing him getting a red failed-payment screen on a self-service kiosk, but Kromm, who was feeling lightheaded at the time, said he successfully swiped his debit card on a second terminal before eating the cookie to raise his blood sugar.
