CAN BAPTISTS READ THE BIBLE?!?!?!?!? Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) President Willy Rice has officially announced the establishment of the SBC Presidential Commission on Women Serving in Pastoral Ministry. In spite of the clear language of scripture, including: 1 Timothy 2:12 — “And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.” 1 Corinthians 14:34 — “Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says.” 1 Corinthians 11:3 — “But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” Dr. Rice will now shuck, jive, prance and dance for months with only one scriptural conclusion possible. To satisfy errant Clergy, he must pretend there's a discussion. His final report must be released no later than six weeks before the SBC annual meeting in Indianapolis, June 13, 2027. If Dr. Rice's report concurs with Scripture, it will mean nothing to many Baptist Churches. I've heard Clergy say they intend to opinion shop, i.e., if the SBC adheres to Scripture, they'll find another organization to join that rejects the Word. Confused Clergy either precipitate or permit these heresies. Many have succumbed to a "Seeker Driven" model, many have wives or other women determined to preach. In the latter case, it reminds me of Adam and Eve. Eve was seduced by the serpent and drug Adam down with her. History repeats. Dave Christian Clergy cannot be trusted. Christian Laity must take the lead.
