#dailyinsights from my book #TheCodeJourney I think a big on-going debate I see between people is about doing for others vs. doing for oneself. While it is important to "do" things for others, this is not an absolute and can sometimes lead us to support vices and negative things. We want the focus on doing for others who cannot do for themselves or are struggling to do so. Doing for self, has often gotten a bad rap as being greedy or selfish; which most times, is not the case when we are doing for ourselves. Many spiritual movements refer to putting your own air mask on before assisting others. This is based on the philosophy that if you are not alive or able to do something, then you are not able to help others. I find that these two components are not something that is easily separated into choosing one or the other. In fact, they are interconnected and create self-perpetuating cycles, for better or worse. When each is honored and used positively, it builds the other and strengthens it. This then builds and strengthens the first piece. However, when we use it in the negative attributes that people often battle over, then it weakens both us and others. Today reminds us to create perpetuating positive cycles with these aspects. When we make ourselves stronger, we will be able to do more to help those in need. Our relationships and connections naturally improve because we are standing in a stable or solid position instead of victim or deprivation energy. However, when we strengthen others, we also strengthen ourselves. Strengthening others is helping them to become self-sufficient and to stand strong on their own, not to be served or to rule over others. We often start this cycle with our own self-sufficiency, because if we have not stopped turning power over to others, then it is too easy to set the negative perpetuating pattern in place. Today take time to see how much you are standing on your own and take steps to become stronger on your own. Consider how this will help you to strengthen your connections with others. #energy #mentor #scribe #presenter
