They don’t make em like they used to. This is a great insight into how real characters of Lonesome Dove came to life. I’m not sure if folks understand how hard it is to be in “character” while filming, remembering lines, and actions ALL while being on horseback who has a mind of its own. You want to look completely confident and comfortable while on horseback most horse people can tell if you can ride before you even get in the saddle and both Gus and Captain look like they were born to be Cowboys. It’s just another small piece that builds into the legend of this series.
