After a couple weeks of prep work turning this old shed into a chicken coop, our flock is settling in nicely to their new home. This shed was jam packed with old tools and garbage that needed taken to the dump. After three trailer loads were taken, we cleaned the shed from top to bottom. The workbench was restructured to give our chickens a nesting area and roosting perches. We took a couple hundred nails out of the walls that must have been used to store tools and extension cords and such. Then the wall went in, followed by the door. Pine shavings were added and some happy hens and roosters were introduced to their new home. The next night was our first freeze, followed by high winds and snow! We’re thankful we could give this flock a warm place to be on these chilly days. But we’re not finished yet! A hatch door and run are next to go in!
