Microsoft announced MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, a compact cybersecurity-focused AI model integrated into its MDASH multi-agent vulnerability identification and remediation system. The model handles up to 90% of routine tasks itself and escalates harder ones to larger models such as GPT-5.4, achieving strong results (around 96%) on the CyberGym benchmark while cutting costs by about 50% versus prior setups. It is designed to find vulnerabilities in complex codebases using Microsoft’s extensive security data and signals. The company is also launching Project Perception, an agentic security system for attack simulation, threat detection, and remediation, with public preview planned for early August. The model emphasizes safety, enterprise controls, and continuous improvement via real-world security feedback loops. https://microsoft.ai/news/introducing-mai-cyber-1-flash-inside-mdash/
