"The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV) It was CH Spurgeon who, in his daily devotional booklet "Chequebook From The Bank Of Faith", remarked that we should think on, and be astonished by, the fact that the Lord rejoices over His people with a song. When the earth was made, the Godhead did not sing, and only said "It is very good." But when a sinner is brought to saving faith through the blood of Christ, our Triune God erupts into a song of joy. Christian, we are not being merely restored to the closeness that Adam had to our Lord before the Fall. We are brought closer, sat at the Lord's table not merely as children, but as heirs and co-inheritors.
