Despite my love for #football, I’ve faced the #reality that the #NFL, like other #sports leagues, became a #betting league and with that, evolved into #sheer_entertainment. More teams now make the playoffs as financial quota, then #throw playoff games to begin their #golf seasons with other players doing the same, mostly in-state matches. This fools #fans to believe that games were played for real. At this pace, the NFL will be the NFE in about ten years. There is a saying by many fans: “The AFC & NFC championship games belong to the fans, the Super Bowl belongs to the bookies and the pro-bowl belongs to the players.” It took time, but I’ve also now come to realize this. Bookies now get involved with football so that the NFL must now rig the Super Bowl to accommodate them all, plus all the online betting. Fans can #spin this anyway they want, but this is what too much #money does to football. Personally, I find it a shame for fans to spend so much money to attend games and get so emotionally involved with a league where almost everything is now rigged and influenced by money. Let’s also not forget about all the fans who spend heavenly to acquire TV access through cable and streaming, taking football so seriously, as if it was the same as it was 10 to 20 years ago.
