This is one more example why you do not want a "smart TV" - you don't really own it. Or really, most any cloud-connected devices, most definitely including almost all current cars, phones, and appliances(!) that can be "upgraded" remotely! (BTW, I have been doing IoT for over 30 years, so I *know* this sort of control is NOT technically required - it's just legally required to keep customers legally chained as corporate slaves.
