The Pentagon coordinates with Israeli defense authorities. The Section 219 provision is part of the defense budget bill for fiscal year 2027 (NDAA); it is formally titled the "United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative." It was originally numbered Section 224 but is now Section 219 in the House of Representatives' version. In the Senate, there is a parallel provision called the FUTURES Act, designated as Section 1217. What the provision actually does: * It tasks the U.S. Secretary of Defense with designating an "executive agent" within the Pentagon to manage the United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative. * The provision also entails joint testing, production, procurement, supply chain coordination, connectivity, and the integration of Israeli or jointly developed technology into U.S. military systems. * Areas of focus include, among others, drone defense, missile defense, quantum computing, artificial intelligence and autonomous systems, cyber defense and electronic warfare, directed-energy weapons, and joint defense industry production. * The legislation requires the Pentagon to develop an implementation plan, coordinate with Israeli defense authorities, and provide regular reports to Congress. #XJA #EU #secure #Icelandic #Independence
