Alt-tech frens, I built an end-to-end encrypted, 100% off-grid mesh network chat app called Direbox: https://direbox.net/ It's like Meshtastic but it can run on any radio at any power level, meaning the operational range is far greater than anything else out there. My wife and I ditched our SIM cards as an experiment and used it exclusively to text each other for a month and it works great within a ~60 mile radius of home!
