The US has a rich history of liberals crossing the aisle under false pretense, to vote in Republican primaries and influence the outcome (usually to favor an establishment toady like Graham or a crazy person who stands no chance against the Dem candidate). Naturally, one wonders why conservatives don't do the same to Democrat primaries. As it often does, it comes down to psychoneural differences between libwhites and conwhites. Cons are disposed to strictly follow rules, formal or implicit. Libs are less hamstrung by rules, considering them "guidelines" at best. In short, the liberals' unprincipled will to power is simply stronger in them than it is in conservatives. The way around this problem is to make airtight rules and enforce them with punishments that actually bite, but I doubt SCROTUS would let that stand for long.
