Friends, I cited having a redundant source of personal heating and cooling as a reason to own a 'fossil fuel' vehicle recently. HOWEVER, something occurred to me last night that makes this redundancy less valuable, and I then confirmed it: ALL #gasoline stations have ELECTRIC PUMPS: THEY CAN'T DELIVER GAS WITHOUT ELECTRICITY! So, your EV vehicle may be just as good a redundancy of this kind as an FF vehicle. So, if you're able to do so, I recommend having a large amount of extra gasoline or diesel fuel stored at your home if you drive an FF vehicle - along with a FF generator perhaps, or have a very large backup battery [array] to either power your home or charge your EV, to weather long blackouts. If you opt for the backup battery, I'd also suggest having a 'survival' room with a window or portable AC unit and a small heater. This room would require less electricity to heat or cool. Long ago I bought a portable AC unit, and it was VERY loud when its compressor was running, so I'd opt for a window unit.
