What such articles MISS or OMIT is that Data Centers are a LOCAL, NOT a NATIONWIDE, #water & #energy DRAIN on some #American communities. A #golf course in city 1, an #alfafa #farm in city 2, ..., are NOT RELEVANT to any 'city 3' that -lacks such water-drainers -suffers from #drought or other water SHORTAGES -suffers from barely adequate available power plants ============================================== BAN #Golf Courses And Swimming #Pools, Not #DataCenters. Well THAT got your attention. We’re joking, of course, but maybe we shouldn’t give the left any more bad ideas. There ARE movements to ban golf courses. Our point is that one of the many mythologies about data centers is that they will use up the nation’s clean water supply. #China's propagandists are no doubt circulating this lie. The chart compares the #water usage in the U.S. for different activities. Right now pools and golf courses ARE USING far more water than AI. Even villainous #watermelons use somewhat more than datacenters. The latest UN report breathlessly warns that data centers could scale up their resource consumption 25x in coming decades. We’re skeptical. But even if it happened, they would still use less water in the US than golf courses. https://committeetounleashprosperity.com/hotlines/ban-golf-courses-and-swimming-pools-not-data-centers/
