Honest question regarding this humanitarian crisis happening right now before our eyes... At what point are the Afghans responsible for their own country ? It appears that our (the west), assumption of the Afghans actually think as we do., you know Nation Building Believe in a representative government Believe in Equal Rights Believe in Religious Freedom Believe in Equal Rights before the Law add nauseum... NOPE ! They only support Islam as the ONLY Religion. Islam as the ONLY Political System Islam as Sharia Law is the only Legal System Afghans only support whomever wields the biggest stick at any given moment. When this tragic meat grinder began, there were voices shouting the truths about fundamental Islam. We have been in battle against True Believers. They are adherents to the purest form of Islam. They are not Radical by any measure. They will kill you in the instant because it is the Truth, and is Right because we are the infidel However, they were told to shut up and leave the room. Careers were destroyed because the decision makers did not want to hear dissenting opinions. War is a very serious and lucrative business that can be glossed over with a promise of, "The Middle East is ripe for Little D Democracy, See they are just like us yearning to be free....." We reap the whirlwind that we have sown. We follow 'Leaders who have no honor.' We follow 'Leaders who have never understood DUTY' Perhaps we follow these feckless preening peacocks because we no longer posses these traits as well.
