"This is our first official public feedback from the United States.

The Orania Representative Council and the Orania Movement are currently visiting the USA. Dr Ernst Roets has also joined the group as an advisor and facilitator. We can now give the following feedback to our friends, supporters and all who contributed to our outreach tour.

We had a fruitful meeting with officials upon invitation and discussed substantive matters in depth. Agreements as well as differences came to light and much further clarification and persuasion is needed. The channel for this has been opened. There are specific matters that we have placed in their midst and for which we are now awaiting feedback.

The delegation aims to promote outreach and Orania’s goals. While Orania’s leadership and people realize that the old tried and tested recipe is to build freedom, brick by brick, institution by institution and through the handiwork of our people, there are many reasons why such a visit is now extremely important.

Firstly, and probably most obvious, is the fact that the world is talking about Afrikaners - this is a golden opportunity to present our case as a solution for Afrikaners, and for other conservative communities around the world. Orania must now explain our solution to all who will listen, the time is now!

Secondly, there is the matter of Afrikaners' relationship with America. Whether it is the thousands of young Afrikaners working in the USA or the huge group of Afrikaners who are already interested in resettling in the USA. What does the USA offer to Afrikaners that is attractive?

It is extremely important to know how our people think and what is important to them. Orania's leadership must devise the long-term vision of concentrated area settlement in the Northern Cape, and then Orania must be able to offer certain competitive advantages to Afrikaners to make it a preferred destination.

Thirdly, Orania's people must connect with members, supporters and others in the USA. There are more conservative Americans in some states in the USA than the total population of Afrikaners, and therefore it is also support and friendships that must be exploited.

Fourthly, there are dynamic, young, active leaders emerging in the USA who are sympathetic to Orania's cause. The influential NYYRC (New York Young Republicans Club), invited Orania Movement to act as speakers at an event specifically arranged for this purpose.

Finally, it is also important to mention that the Orania Movement and Orania Representative Council do not want to make a spectacle of all our contacts. It is important to conclude some of our appointments first, and also to respect our hosts before we give public feedback. Respect is a critically important aspect when contacts are made, and new bonds are formed. We are grateful that our supporters trust us with this.

A deep and sincere word of thanks for so many messages of support, prayers, encouragement and the tangible camp of support that our people have formed. It is incredible how much we have been supported, both financially and practically.

Know that every member, every supporter and every Oranian who has helped us in this way is truly valuable to us.
