THIS week's Sabbath message: Seal of God, Part XXIII OBTAINING THE WEDDING GARMENT MATTHEW 22:2-14 STATE of Israel who held the oracle of God. 1st coming. >2 The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, 3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not come. UNBELIEVING Jews and persecution of Spiritual Jews >4 Again, he sent out other servants, saying, Tell those who are invited, See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding. 5 But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. 6 And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them. 70 AD: >7 But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. STATE of professed to be Christians (unconverted Gentiles); Laodicea-judging of the people. 2nd coming. >8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. And the wedding hall was filled with guests. DECLARATION of judgement >11 But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. 12 So he said to him, Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. >>Matthew 7:23 And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness! FINAL judgement >13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. >14 For many are called, but few are chosen. >>Revelation 3:4 You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. >>Revelation 3:5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. WEDDING GARMENT/Robe of righteousness (white garment) represents the righteousness of Christ; flawless moral perfection, holiness, and perfect obedience to God's law that Jesus lived by. >Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. >Psalm 19:7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. >Romans 7:22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. >Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. ARE you preparing to wear the Wedding Garment? >1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
