It wasn’t lost on me that perhaps I had been running from something all of my life. The morning commutes were just the excuses I needed to entertain my lost state of mind. As the train moved along past the villages, I would feel pieces of my previous life disappear behind me along with the passing landscape. As if the land itself absorbed them as I passed by.
