God uses our vulnerabilities and weaknesses to make us pliable, like soft clay. God did not cause our pains but allows them to be the vehicle of our change. Real transformation happens only through divine grace. When we accept what is, we allow space for fresh information, new ways of seeing, and hence new actions. The interplay of effort and surrender and the ineffable other that is God’s participation. This seam of marking time, the edge of one year to the next, moves people to “set intentions.” Rather than trying to fix what we perceive to be broken, let’s endeavor to make more of ourselves available to God, for God. Turn your compass toward truth again and again and again. The real, unadulterated, naked truth. Within and without. Through truth, and only through truth, comes real love. Happy New Year!
