@curtd Restoring patriarchy is an absolute possibility.
No cellphone, television or steel factory can alter the biological reality that women are physically feeble compared to men. Coverture continued in England until its abolition during the latter half of the 19th century, in Germany until the First World War, and in Russia throughout Alexander III and Stolypin’s reforms until the Revolution. Islam is a perennial enemy of Christianity and is culturally distant from the West, but the Taliban has shown that women have no power to defect against monogamy if men enforce it. The fall of Afghanistan has broken the spell of feminism.
It is not apparent to the uninitiated, but there are fundamental differences between Western and Eastern Christianity which account for the decline of religion. In his debate with Barlaam, Saint Gregory Palamas (1296-1359) predicted that the adoption of Aristotelian metaphysics into Roman Catholic theology would lead to atheism. It is not penicillin, automobiles and plastic which leads to post-Christianity rather faulty metaphysics and epistemology.
Looking forward, Peter the Great was both good and evil in many aspects, but the creation of the Holy Synod was ahead of his time. Alexander III and Konstantin Pobedonostsev did not go far enough, but there remains a historical precedent for a large administrative state centered on Christianity.
Say one has a daughter and wishes for her well-being. He would have her educated in a moral environment, made sure she does not leave home without an escort, and married off at an early age. What makes this difficult is not technology rather an oppressive feminist state which allows women to steal a man’s children through the satanic divorce court system and sends CPS to kidnap young girls from their parents. Patriarchy may not be restored in the near future, but if one can look into the barrel of a gun and see paradise it is possible to enforce patriarchy in one's family.
