@ChrisGG Ashkenazis are Turkic Khazar converts. According to an article published on the World Zionist Organization's (WZO) website: "REMARKABLY, the Khazars, a people of Turkic origin converted to the Jewish religion sometime in the 9th century, beginning with the royal house and spreading gradually among the general populace. Judaism is now known to have been more widespread among the Khazar inhabitants of the Khazar kingdom than was previously thought. In 1999, Russian archaeologists announced that they had successfully reconstructed a Khazarian vessel from the Don River region, revealing 4 inscriptions of the word "Israel" in Hebrew lettering. It is now the accepted opinion among most scholars in the field that the conversion of the Khazars to Judaism was widespread, and not limited merely to the royal house and nobility. Ibn al-Faqih, in fact, wrote "All of the Khazars are Jews." Christian of Stavelot wrote in 864 that "all of them profess the Jewish faith in its entirety." https://www.palestineremembered.com/Acre/Maps/Story800.html "In his book Facts Are Facts, renowned Jewish author Benjamin Friedman recounts the history of the Khazar kingdom and argues that modern Jews, especially those of Eastern and Central Europe, are in fact descendants of the Khazar people." para 16 https://topwar.ru/207197-hazarskoe-carstvo-proishozhdenie-naroda-izrailja.html "As far back as 1828, the Ribal (Rabbi Isaac Ber Levinson) said that the ancient language of the Jews was not Yiddish. Even Ben Zion Dinur, the father of Israeli historiography, was not hesitant about describing the Khazars as the origin of the Jews in Eastern Europe, and describes Khazaria as 'the mother of the diasporas' in Eastern Europe. Finally, we would like to end this article on a personal note that some may find interesting. The author of this page worked for decades in Chicago and ran into tens of Ukrainian and Belarusian Ashkenazi Jews (many of whom recently arrived after the Soviet Union collapsed). On many occasions, it was made clear that it is a common knowledge among Ashkenazi Jews that they are much closer to Genghis Khan than to Abraham. This was a folk joke often spoken of between Ashkenazi Jews that still exists in Jews' oral history, and that is very revealing. On another occasion, a Rabbi in the Chicago area was asked about the Red Jews; and he confirmed what we know on this page but ended the conversation by saying: yes, that is true, but we Jews don't like to talk about them! In a nutshell, what was written here is an open secret in Jewish communities around the world, and the only conspiracy is calling the Khazar theory a conspiracy. paras 6 & 21 https://www.palestineremembered.com/Acre/Maps/Story800.html The Missing Link of Jewish European Ancestry: Contrasting the Rhineland and the Khazarian Hypotheses 2Our findings support the Khazarian Hypothesis and portray the European Jewish genome as a mosaic of Caucasus, European, and Semitic ancestries, thereby consolidating previous contradictory reports of Jewish ancestry." https://www.researchgate.net/publication/233929942_The_Missing_Link_of_Jewish_European_Ancestry_Contrasting_the_Rhineland_and_the_Khazarian_Hypotheses
