(1) Open-source software (trust layer) (2) An immutable record (3) distributed over a (4) decentralized network (5) Permission-less (anyone can join) (6) Censorship-resistant (see previous points) (7) All transactions are on a publicly viewable ledger (trust layer #2) (8) Trustless - no centralized authority is needed to verify it transactions- it's all in the code and the trust layers mentioned above Digital currencies are as much a measure of value as stock certificates (which have no inherent value other than what is assigned to it as well. Same as anything.)
