Ryanair really really wants you to use their app, and they tell you it's not possible to fly without it, but I've just done it. You just have to ask for a printed boarding pass at check-in (Ryanair calls it "baggage drop" but it's still the same) and you don't need their app and they can't suck information from your phone.
