A big impediment to fighting big tech is the telecoms. Are there any U.S. telecoms that allow phones with operating systems other than the typical few (i.e. Apple, Google, Microsoft, Blackberry)? At one point Canonical was attempting to launch Ubuntu Touch for mobile devices, but US telecoms wouldn't allow it.
