Did you get an AI video telling you who to vote for? Because I did. It mentioned my mother and father, and the video still had the Gemini watermark. Not only did I get one, but my friends and even my grandparents did. Did you know it came from an out-of-state Political Action Committee? In June alone, $5.44 million was spent in independent spending by three Super PACs whose headquarters are based in Washington, D.C., Alexandria, Virginia, and San Francisco, California. Do we really want this type of out-of-state influence in our elections? Why does California want to influence the way we vote? They should stay out of our elections. Slowly, people are waking up to the fact that whoever is "the people's candidate," they appear to have no chance against whoever Washington, D.C., wants. After being disillusioned by unfair elections, many people turn off their politics because they seem to understand they have no voice. Why? Because of out-of-state dollars being spent in our elections. Louisiana must push back against this and look forward to a future with a truly local election. Until Louisiana is free of D.C., the federal government's judges block Louisiana from banning out-of state money in our elections. But not overseas money. This fall, voters will see the Prohibit Foreign and Noncitizen Campaign Contributions Amendment on the statewide ballot on November 3, 2026. If passed, it will strictly ban foreign governments, foreign entities, or non-citizens from donating any funds, goods, or services to directly or indirectly influence any candidate, political party, or ballot initiative in the state. I believe Louisiana will vote in favor of the ban. Then, in a future independent Louisiana, San Francisco will no longer be able to send you mass AI text messages to try to sway your vote.
