Ben Makinen Nobel prize winner and biochemist Dr. Kary Mullis was shocked to learn that the man who discovered HIV had no proof it causes AIDS. Mullis began to write a routine request to the NIH to renew a grant for a project he was working on. He simply needed to find a scientific paper he could reference as a footnote to back up the claim in this grant proposal that HIV causes AIDS. He began asking his peers in the professional medical and science community and no one could find one. He asked every AIDS expert he heard speak. Finally he had an opportunity to meet Luc Montagnier who had won the Nobel prize in 2008 Physiology and Medicine for having discovered HIV in the early 1980s. In this video excerpt we hear Dr. Mullis describing his encounter with Dr. Montagnier, and how ultimately the man who discovered HIV could not provide Dr Mullis with any scientific study showing that HIV causes AIDS. Original music here is Under Water Falls from the CD Lost Lullaby which is the first album I composed and performed for my label Bmakin Music in 2002. We also hear a mystery artist performing a snippet from the jazz standard My Secret Love. Excerpted from the film by Brent Leung.
