Don't Need the Reset There’s an old saying in recovery: if you never take another drink, you’ll never have to get sober again. I think about that a lot. Not about alcohol but about everything. The gym. The Hebrew study. The discipline it takes to live in a healthy body as I age. And there are days I just don’t feel like it. But the thing about quitting is that it’s never just one day. It’s a reset. And a reset means you have to climb back to where you were before you can move forward. All that ground you covered? Gone. You have to walk it again. And again. And again. But if you just show up — even badly, even tired, even half-hearted — you don’t reset. You don’t lose the ground. You just keep moving. Slowly maybe. Ugly maybe. But moving. The person who never quits doesn’t have to start over. That’s the whole advantage. The streak isn’t about pride. It’s about not having to do the hard part twice. So on the days you don’t feel like it, remember: you don’t have to be great today. You just have to not reset. One foot in front of the other. One page. One rep. One word. Stay the course, and you’ll never have to find your way back from the beginning. Fitness Old School. Strong. Steady. For Life.
