Argyll, Johnstone. Brown, O’Neill, Fitzpatrick, Bruce, LeMessurier, Gramp, Whittaker.. these are the names inscribed in stone in every town & city upon which we stand. 250 years ago a different nature beheld this land, a nature removed from this very conversation we, at this very minute, share. Our current conversation takes place on & within the ground laid before us by those names carved in stone in the towns, and in the cities. These names are now threatened under the vandals rage, alongside the statues and memorials to our founders & pioneers. The we I speak of now finds feet amongst us whose names figure not in this foundation, but who now find their feet here courtesy of our decreed invite. And, yet this invite is questioned still more each day, and steadily the question rises, as the arc of the sun also rises. The need to address this curiosity is ever more evident. What are the reason(s) for this rising disquiet?
