So… I was recently contacted by a well-known doctor’s show—big TV and podcast audience—and offered a segment to discuss forever chemicals and how my company’s healthy technologies can help families create cleaner environments, especially around the holidays. The episode was planned for December. After a great conversation and plenty of excitement on my end, I was shocked to learn it would cost $76,000 to appear on the show. I honestly thought they wanted me on to educate their audience about forever chemicals. I wasn’t even planning to mention my products unless they asked. But apparently, this is the norm for many of these doctor shows. On one hand, I respect everyone’s right to run a business and monetize their platform. But something about it felt off. Full transparency: I could pay for that segment, but it just doesn’t sit right with me. I think people should be aware this happens—and that many of your favorite health and wellness influencers may simply be paying to appear on these shows. I’m not saying everyone does this—Joe Rogan, for example, doesn’t operate like that—but a lot of big TV and podcast platforms do. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Is it fair game, or does it cross a line to charge guests to come on and talk about health topics (and possibly promote their products)?
