"WHY THROW AWAY YOUR ID BEFORE CROSSING TO #ENGLAND? On Sunday 6th September at #Gravelines, I filmed another migrant boat leaving the #French coast for #England. That in itself is no longer unusual for me. What WAS unusual was what happened as they boarded. I’m used to seeing shoes and other belongings thrown away — but this time I clearly saw what appeared to be a driving licence/identity document deliberately thrown away. So I have some very simple questions: Why discard identification immediately before entering the #UK? If you intend to claim asylum, why would you not want the authorities to know exactly who you are? Did this individual later give #ukhomeoffice and #UKBorder his correct name and identity? Can his stated identity now be checked against the document I filmed being discarded? And perhaps most importantly — why is it so difficult for an ordinary member of the public to get evidence like this properly reported and investigated? I have the footage. I have the date and location. I am prepared to provide the original video to the relevant authorities. Will #ShabanaMahmood or somebody within the #HomeOffice actually take notice and look into it?
