Several images of this beautiful place were posted by @CertainHOPE and @Gee. One might imagine this as the home of many generations experiencing great love and loss, triumph and tragedy. Recently, I have received several notices of couples grieving and processing the loss of a child. This inspired me to compose a poetic response.
The hushed land diffuses a fragrant petiole,
It is nature’s beret enveloping mine abode.
Foliage impinged against wood and stone,
Reminiscent of a place I’ve always known.
Mae gorymdaith bywyd yn cael ei wella gan brofiad ~ The march of life is enhanced by experience.
A crimson warmth to soothe and charm,
Casts a tinge to dispel all harm.
Yet, to lift my heart my need is you,
Your voice and smile to efface the gloom.
The windows at day, no cover or blind,
At eve, an aching for our wunderkind.
Yet, if curtains be drawn I hear a verse,
A child’s lullaby draws me to immerse.
Mae dal un bach yn anrheg; Mae eu gweld nhw'n aeddfed yn fendith fawr ~ To hold a little one is a gift; to see them mature is a great blessing.
Cast open the door to find no one there,
It tears at the soul, the loss hard to bear.
A movement so quick to question my eye
Enrapture my sight, a new dragonfly…
