10 years of Gab, 9 Years I have been in it. I don't even remember why I was not on it from the start. I remember Torba from him being a member on The Facebook Bitcoin Group and The Google+ Bitcoin Community which I co-founded and led. And also his paying subway with Bitcoin video being of the first times his name was on the news. Then there was the whole Silicon Valley exodus story and what is the funniest thing about Gab early start. @a might not agree, but the original perception of Gab was that of an alternative startup in the same vein as App(.)Net. Which is maybe why I was skeptical at first as App(.)Net betrayed everyone and just shutdown. And I had also seen other great tryouts like Simler who no one remembers. Rejaw for which I was one of the most active users and I even helped co-develop a homage micro-successor called Twittaw on top of the Twitter API. It was like Twitlonger, but it could live in parallel to Twitter. Among others like Plurk which shockingly is still around and of course Pownce. Which has the achievement of getting its codebase destroyed by itself. Anyway, you get the idea. Lots of innovative startups had tried to be a Twitter or Facebook alternative and failed miserably with not even a tenth of the odds against that Gab has had. But at first Gab didn't had such enormous odds against it. It was a Microsoft Azure based startup. It had video and could have had apps and what not if it had launched with a bigger budget. But, then the turn happened. And while it being Azure based was why it originally got shutdown for a week, it was also why it could bounce back so fast as the code still existed off it and could be moved elsewhere. Which is why it was able to comeback unlike with Parler's extreme stupidity where it was MADE WITHIN AWS. And was why Parler could never ever recover. Gab has managed the almost impossible. Has pivoted like 5 times and has now survived for 10 years. Standing up on top of a hill almost alone and with no way to be compared to anything. Truly as remarkable as it is impressive. Future awaits the bold.
