Kane & Lynch: Dead Men (2007) & Dog Days (2010) I decided to finally play them. Both games are overly ambitious without having any way to deliver even half of what the vision probably was. And at the same time try and fail to do so with two horrible characters. Kane & Lynch : Dead Men (2007) The only PC playable version without having to resort to workarounds is the GOG version. I tried to play it on GFN, but it is uninstallable because of GFWL and even if you could, There is no Steam cloud support and you cannot export saves in GFN Install-to-play so far. Can be run at max settings at 1080p 60fps on GameNative with a 8 Gen 2 no problem. 5 hours single player that will take 7 hours due to the game bugging out at times making you replay a whole chapter more than once. Story that rips off from Reservoir Dogs, Heat, Collateral and 90's Hong Kong Action Movies without any of the good writing and directing. And ridden with two of the worst protagonists ever. You are an unlikeable, close to unredeemable villain going against worse villains than you. Game originally seen as controversial given the short runtime, bad shooting and it launching at 49 USD. It is really unacceptable and now I agree on it being a 6. And that is only because it being daring in terms of ambition. Hard to believe it was made by IO interactive. You can see how Glacier Engine as it was previously used to make Hitman: Blood Money which is a good game was completely unsuitable to be used the way it was used to make this game. One of the only other positive things it can be said about it is that it made the devs behind Army of Two to improve their game. Kane & Lynch: Dog Days (2010) Playable in GOG & Steam. Played on GFN at 1440p 60rps Max Settings. Can be played on GameNative with a 8 Gen 2 at 1080p 60fps at Max Settings with some tuning and tweaking. 5 hours single player that will also take 7 hours due to some chapters also bugging out. And that offers extended replayability via online Co-Op and an Arcade Mode with Achievements. Story leans even more on 90's Hong Kong action movies with a little bit of RockanRolla and Die Hard thrown into the mix. You are still an unlikeable pair of badly written characters and villains going against worse villains. This time around Glacier Engine has been improved a lot. And in the context of when the game came out. It looks great. But the game is still unable to deliver even half of the vision it had in mind. But once again, the ambition should be applauded. You can clearly see that this game was the bad influence that caused Hitman: Absolution to happen. Given, that while Absolution is a good game with a few great things in it. It is the Hitman game that feels the less like a Hitman game. Kind of similar to Max Payne 3. Great game, but it barely feels like a Max Payne game. Game is a 6 because it didn't improved enough from the first game and how expensive it was at launch. Controversy surrounded this game mainly because it was discovered some reviewers were allegedly paid for a higher score. And because once again it was outrageously expensive as it first released at 59 USD. Overall, both games are worth playing if bought for really cheap and if you like short action packed single player games. And also because these are two games unburdened by unnecessary censorship or political correctness.
