The thought was that God(s) [their gods] would not dare to lower themselves to our level & manifest in flesh (Daniel 2:11). Be sorta like humans, if they could, becoming an earth worm. Yet scripture predicted from the beginning God would put on the tabernacle of flesh as John states in John 1:14. Men saw, touched, heard His Words & many died horrible deaths not budging or recanting 1 iota of what they experienced & what scripture prophesied AND fulfilled exactly, not theory or hypothesis, predicted & fulfilled. And even in today's world we can see prophecy being fulfilled exactly as stated in scripture. It's God's Thumbprint. We are without excuse. Believe & be saved. Jesus
