New York is being tough but the Amish are being tougher. This may be THE landmark case we've been waiting for regarding vaccines. This fight is definitely headed to the US Supreme Court. New York bureaucrats like Hochul can pretend they're doing this for the protection of the public but it's all about control. First, it's about compliance. How dare we have a God-loving self-sufficient population like the Amish on American soil. New York must rein them in. More importantly, this is about destroying a control group. Amish communities have historically lower vaccination rates than the general U.S. population, so they are a naturally occurring comparison population for studying long-term vaxxed vs. unvaxxed outcomes. For example, in the 2014 Ohio measles "outbreak" (383 cases), the Amish only had 14% vax rate of one dose of MMR compared to more than 88% in the surrounding non-Amish population. (PubMed) Particularly since 2020, the Amish have been reluctant to vaccinate their children. (PubMed) Amish populations have provided useful vaccine evidence, and New York wants to end that. New York has declared war on the Amish: https://jennasside.rocks/p/new-york-declares-war-on-the-amish For years, I've said, "The separation between me and the government is at the level of my skin." People are always calling for separation of church and state to be reinforced, but this separation is even MORE important in my view. There's no better example than the Amish. Keep fighting for your children.
