Having #walkable urban areas can be nice, but it comes with a downside, especially when areas that are already developed have to be transitioned. Walkability replaces drivability. This is not a side effect; it's the plan. It's part of the War on Cars and conditioning people to learn to live with less freedom and personal mobility. Rant on: South Carolina is now one of the most popular states to move to. You'd think officials would be hurrying to add lanes and build more roads to handle higher capacity. No! It's the opposite for these WEFers with their #SDG. That nice, broad sidewalk means that car lanes were eliminated. This is what they call a "road diet," but the diet never ends. It's really a "road die." ☠️⚰️ Bike lanes also diminish car lanes (causing danger to both drivers and cyclists). Look, everything is moving toward one goal. "Traffic calming" brings us speed limit signs with Nanny State nagging ❇ flashing ❇ 🚨 cop lights. For ""safety,"" of course. Speed bumps and humps are increasing, but they don't fix the potholes. Anything to diminish the advantage and pleasure of having a car. This is progress? We were supposed to have FASTER cars, even flying cars by now. We dreamed of the Jetsons but are getting the Flintstones. They push lame EVs, which are too expensive, can't be supported by the grid, and lead to constant low-battery anxiety.
