Spurgeon: In our text, the cup was meant yet more than loving entertainment and sacrificial acceptance. The Psalmist, in the one hundred and sixteenth Psalm, at the thirteenth verse, speaks of taking the “cup of salvation.” Such a heavenly cup, belongs to every believer throughout the world! It is a part of your heritage this day, beloved, that your sins are forgiven, that you are justified through the righteousness of Christ, that you are saved from the wrath of God. So saved as to be preserved in future, and to be ultimately brought into the kingdom and the glory. You have, at this hour, salvation as your portion.
