Spurgeon: I want you today, to see David’s use of the term “cup.” There is far more is included, than just the simple cup. I take it he also refers to accepted worship. In some of the rites of the Jewish law, you will remember that after the sacrifice, the worshippers and the priest together sat down and partook of the remainder of the thank offering. God had received his portion of the meat offering and the drink offering, poured or laid upon the altar. And then the worshipper himself, in token of God’s acceptance, was permitted to eat and drink of the same.
