Happy New Year, everyone! It's 2022 = 6066/3. 666 is the number of Satan the Deceiver (more or less). And what could be more deceptive than a modern government, which will tell you anything but the truth (unless it's threatening you, in which case you can believe it 100%)? I just received a group email linking to legal strictures asserting the right of the US government to prosecute citizens who lie to it. The idea was that people like Fauci, Zuck, and Gates should be prosecuted. But I still had to disagree. Here's what I responded: There's a problem with the legal opinion to which you've linked.. Ever hear of the Epimenides paradox? It consists of a premise, a statement, and a question. Premise: Epimenides is a Cretan. Statement by Epimenides: "All Cretans always lie." Question: Does Epimenides speak the truth? The paradox of self-reference is obvious. If Epimenides speaks the truth, then his statement is a lie. On the other hand, if Epimenides' statement is false, then Epimenides speaks truthfully. Obviously, Epimendes' statement contains 0 information. You can believe neither what he says, nor the opposite of what he says. Now let's talk about the US Government. Premise: Any member of the US government can lie at any time to anybody in order to get elected, cover ass, or protect "national security". Statement by the government: "Any citizen can be prosecuted for lying to the government!" Question: Is the government telling the truth? Again, the statement contains 0 information. Members of the government routinely lie to each other and to the US population, yet are never prosecuted. Because all of its members are liars, the government lacks the logical, moral, and legal standing to prosecute anyone for lying to it. The concept of good faith is completely inapplicable. Conclusion: The government must first establish its own truthfulness. Only then can it credibly threaten citizens for lying to it. New Year's Resolution: Until the government starts telling the truth, it can f**k off. ;-)
