This StosselTV episode features how, in 2025, Californian wildfires burned Pacific Palisades, destroying about 13,000 homes there, but only about 28 of those homes have been rebuilt during the year following, due to bureaucratic delays, along with threats of financial ruin for families if regulations are insufficiently followed. Let's please champion free markets! As I might add... America is currently enduring a housing crisis of skyrocketing home prices, as housing demand has been artificially expanding due to taxpayer-insured risky federal home loans, while housing supply has been artificially contracting due to metastasizing federal-and-state-and-local regulations, which regulations include zoning ordinances, building codes, environmental restrictions, occupational licenses, et cetera. Our best solution isn't increased central planning of the economy, accompanied by more coercive redistribution-of-wealth, but instead allowing markets to remain free to thrive in serving consumers, including by allowing steady innovation toward greater efficiency, effectiveness, and proper customization. Although I enjoy high standards of quality, I believe that such standards are best achieved not through compulsory means like state bureaucracy but through voluntary means like private licensing and/or certification agencies, customer reviews, investigative journalism, et cetera, while force should be reserved ONLY for genuine rights-violations like fraud or injury. https://rumble.com/v76devy-california-rebuild-crushing-rules-empty-reservoirs-angry-residents.html #HousingCrisis #Homebuilding #Regulations #RedTape #Bureaucracy #PacificPalisades
