This TED talk advises career-seekers to follow not-quite their passions but actually their fascinations, which naturally fuel obsessive lifelong learning toward artisanship, which naturally yields job excellence. It cites a few interesting examples, including a man who always felt fascinated by how restaurants function, but almost chose a "safe" career as a lawyer, but then abandoned law school for a restaurant-management course, and eventually opened one of the finest restaurants in New York City. This fits well with counsel that I once heard from an apostle that the-things-that-we-think-about-when-we-don't-need-to-think-about-anything-at-all are the things that we should consider as careers, but only if we can actually earn money at them---otherwise, we should keep them only as hobbies not as careers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-WfDn_0AWE #Employment #Jobs #Careers #CareerPlanning #Passions #Fascinations #LifelongLearning #Excellence
