THE FOOD REFORM THAT PROTECTS THE MACHINE They will clean the label. They will not clean the soil, the spray, the water, the air, the slaughterhouse bottleneck, the subsidy structure, or the law that protects the spray. That is the contradiction hiding beneath the interview. On camera, the administration talks about ultra-processed foods, food dyes, school lunches, soda, chronic disease, and the GRAS loophole. Good. Those things matter. A country drowning in obesity, diabetes, inflammation, autoimmune disease, metabolic dysfunction, and childhood illness cannot pretend the food supply is innocent. But surface reform becomes theater when the machinery underneath remains protected. Because the food system does not begin at the ingredient panel. It begins before the package exists. It begins at the seed, the soil, the spray, the water, the animal feed, the farmworker, the processing plant, the slaughterhouse, the truck route, the packaging material, the legal tolerance, the liability shield, the inspection rule, the subsidy program, the lobbying office, and the agency definition of “safe.” The public sees the label. The body receives the whole chain. That is the difference they hope you never understand.
